Quint Shafer is the managing partner of Shafer & Welch, L.C. His family first moved to Platte County, Missouri in the 1840’s with each generation having a positive impact on the community ever since. Quint is no exception. A native of Weston, Quint worked in all aspects of the local economy during his formative years: as a laborer in the tobacco fields, local grain elevator and the local school district.
In 1987 Quint attended the University of Colorado (Boulder) and graduated in 1991 with a BA majoring in political science.
Immediately after obtaining his undergraduate degree Quint worked for a year on the prosecution team for a high profile capital murder case. The case was covered by the national media and resulted in a murder conviction. The experience convinced Quint that law school should be the next step in his formal education.
Quint graduated from Mississippi College School of Law in 1995 and still actively supports the law school each year. During law school he served as a congressional intern in Washington D.C. (103rd U.S. Congress), a clerk for the judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit (Clay County, Missouri) and rounded out his graduate education by receiving the highest grade in his law school’s trial practice course.
Quint returned to Weston in 1995. In his first six months of practicing law Quint successfully argued his first case at the court of appeals and tried his first civil jury trial. He has maintained a highly varied assortment of cases ever since. His clientele are as broad as his background: everything from large real estate developers, banks and political subdivisions to small companies, families and individuals.
Quint has also donated a great deal of time and effort to his community. In 2006 Quint donated real estate to the City of Weston in commemoration of the Lewis & Clark Expedition with the hope of establishing a pocket park and improving a community trail. Quint previously served two terms as chairman of the local Ducks Unlimited committee and is an active outdoorsman. He has formed numerous non-profit companies and foundations, often donating the time and costs in their formation as a public service. The hours he has committed to the local churches, school and museum alone are innumerable.
Quint also relies upon his business background to assist him with all types of representation. He owns several companies and manages numerous investment properties. He currently serves on several boards including the position of Director for Bank of Weston and as an elected member of the West Platte R-II Board of Education.
His ability to evaluate and navigate very complex legal landscapes is a direct result of his diverse and broad background.
Quint resides in rural Weston on a family farm along with his wife and two children.

“I am a litigation attorney practicing in California. When my father passed away, we needed an attorney at my family’s home in Missouri who was well versed in litigation and probate law. It was particularly important to us that we hire someone who knew the local court system, had excellent judgment, and would act ethically and responsibly since our family’s name would be associated with the attorney’s actions.”
“Our case was complex, unusual and hard-fought, and Quint Shafer was able to assist us with every facet of the case and ultimately achieved a great result for our family.”
